Laramie County voters approved a sixth penny project worth more than $128 million on Tuesday.

Except for one of the 14 voting proposals, all the other proposals were passed, and most of them passed with a greater advantage. However, Proposal No. 14, that is, Cheyenne City’s minimum income guarantee for Cheyenne Regional Airport, was only passed by 0.68%.

Proposal No. 11 was supposed to provide Cheyenne City with US$2 million for the construction of multi-purpose courts and gymnastics facilities for youth and adult events at appropriate locations including Cheyenne Ice and Activity Center, but it failed by 0.88%.

Due to the close number of votes, county secretary Debra Lee stated that her office will recount the votes for these two proposals on Wednesday, November 3. She said that the recount is expected to take several hours.

Starting April 1, 2022, approved proposals will be funded through a 1% sales and use tax and will continue until the proposal is paid.

Since 1986, Laramie County has levied a 1% special purpose sales and use tax.
